Sumita + Chris - Backyard Wedding

Becky met Sumita when she did her best friend Laura’s wedding a couple years before. They instantly bonded over their love of flowers and stayed in touch over the next couple years on Instagram. When Chris popped the question, she knew we had to create some flower magic!

Originally planned as a two day, multi-cultural event. Due to COVID Sumita and Chris decided to move the big party to next year and get married this year in a smaller wedding at Sumita's childhood home in New Jersey.

Becky and her Photographer husband John actually got to work together on this wedding as an amazing flower and photography duo and we cannot stop looking at this lovely gallery!

While Sumita was getting ready with the hair and make up artist Payal, the planner Tum Hi Ho Events and Becky were getting ready for the guests to arrive at the house.

DESIGN

Chris and Sumita both love museums and while the civil ceremony that was planned for PAFA, had to be postponed. They were able have their first look and Bridal portraits at PAFA. We took queue's from both weddings, full of flowers and color and infused them into this one sweet day. We still incorporated the custom RAM circle arch originally planned for PAFA as our ceremony turned sweetheart focal, which was the one thing Sumita was most excited about! We wanted to do something dramatic and colorful, but still refined, saving the real drama for the party next year.

Sumita walked down the aisle in a beautiful Alexis dress that went so effortlessly with her gold Loeffler Randall heels. As part of the ceremony they incorporated beautiful aspects of both cultures.

EVENT

We used lots of rich jewel tones, while playing with some color blocking and infusing elements of her culture to make a beautiful harmonious moment throughout. She also loves marigolds, hues of dahlias and lots of local flowers. We are looking forward to working up a new design for next year!

For the reception we had lots of draping greens to bring the outside into the tent. We wanted it to feel as if we weren’t in a tent at all, but a luscious greenhouse. We love reusing ceremony structures with our sweetheart tables and getting the most out of the flowers we have, so we added the circle as a backdrop for the beautiful couple! For the rest of the table we mixed in our inventory of vintage brass bud vases, taper candles and other warm metals to complete our floral centerpieces.
